2018 Cyber Institute’s Interdisciplinary Intramural Awards Program

Augusta University’s Cyber Institute is pleased to announce the 2018 Cyber Institute Interdisciplinary Intramural Awards Program (IIAP).

The IIAP will provide AU faculty seed funding for the creation and conduct of cyber-related scholarly activities designed to enhance meaningful innovative interdisciplinary research and education for cybersecurity with a focus on collaborative partnerships and outreach that impact K-12 education, healthcare, and government, academia, and business communities. Examples could include but are not limited to curriculum development, research project(s), conference registration and/or travel etc. IIAP applications should include a sustainability plan, which clearly and reasonably describes how requested funds will be leveraged to secure extramural support.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • IIAP applicants must be an Augusta University full-time academic or clinical faculty member. If several faculty members are collaborating on the project, one individual should be identified as the contact project leader (CPL) for communication about the application. Previous IIAP applicants may submit a new proposal on a separate topic, however, the details and outcome(s) (grant submission/scoring, paper accepted) from the prior IIAP proposal must be stated in the application.

Amount of Award:

In the spirit of creativity and innovation, an award amount has NOT been designated.

  • Funds may be used for service costs, conference registration fees,* equipment and supplies, student support, and development projects.*
  • Awards are funded for one year only. Unspent funds may not be carried forward.

How to Apply:

Applicants should follow the guidelines provided for the submission of a complete application. Completed application materials should be submitted in a single collated PDF file electronically to CYBERGRANTS@augusta.edu  by 11:59 pm (EST), Friday, October 20, 2017. Submissions that are late and those that do not conform to the required format will not be reviewed.

Review and Selection Process:

A Peer Review Committee will evaluate proposals based on their relevance to AUCI’s goals and strategic focus areas.The committee will provide recommendations to the Augusta University Cyber Institute’s leadership team. Awards are made through a competitive process and funding is not guaranteed.

Required Report(s):

Recipients are required to submit a brief report, no later than Friday, July 27, 2018 which should include identified products i.e., manuscripts, creations etc., and specific future plans/activities e.g., research projects, identification of an external funding source. Final reports should be submitted to cybergrants@augusta.edu, with the wording ‘FY 2018 Final Report’ included in the subject line.

Cyber Institute Timeline:

Friday, 10/20 – Deadline, receipt of FY 18 applications

Friday, 10/27 – Peer Review Committee will review applications and provide final recommendations

Friday, 11/3  –  Announcement of 2018 IIIAP Awardees

Friday, 6/29/18 – Deadline for the submission of all FY18 proposal invoices and expenses

Friday, 07/27   –  Deadline for the receipt of all final reports.
